The New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) released, in July 2012, The BIM Guidelines (http://www.nyc.gov/html/ddc/html/pubs/publications.shtml), the City’s inaugural attempt to bring building information modeling (BIM) to bear on public project design and construction processes. There have been two Town+Gown projects —one with a graduate engineering class and another joint architecture/construction management seminar— involving the use of BIM as an integral part of the pedagogy. DDC wants to make its completed project BIM models available for educators to use as part of a broader STEAM teaching resource website under development.
At this meeting, we would like to hear from educators about what kinds of BIM-related resources would be of use of them as they develop their courses. We are also interested in learning about the BIM-related curricula at the various schools.
